1) Fulfilled:  /fʊlˈfɪld/ Adjective 

Feeling happy because you are getting everything that you want from life. 

E.g. I fulfilled with all my homework. 



2) Secession: /sɪsˈeʃ.ən/ Noun 

The act of becoming independent and no longer part of a country, area, organization, etc.

E.g. States want a secession for peace. 



3) Slave: /sleɪv/ Noun 

A person who is legally owned by someone else and has to work for that person. 

E.g. Blacks were slaves in the past.



4) Romanesque: /ˌroʊ.məˈnesk/ Adjective 

Relating to the style of building that was common in western and southern Europe from the 10th to the 12th centuries. 

E.g. My grandmother has romanesque architecture. 



5) Westward: /ˈwest.wɚd/ Adverb 

Towards the west. 

E.g. We follow the tracks westward. 



6) Kingdom: /ˈkɪŋ.dəm/ Noun 

A country ruled by a king or queen. 

E.g. Great Britain is a kingdom. 



7) Secede: /sɪˈsiːd/ Verb 

To become independent of a country or area of government.

E.g. Southern states wanted to separate from the United States. 



8) Fight: /faɪt/ Verb 

To use physical force to try to defeat another person or group of people. 

E.g. I always fight with my brother. 



9) Rely on: /rɪˈlaɪ/ Phrasal verb 

To need a particular thing or the help and support of someone or something in order to continue, to work correctly, or to succeed. 

E.g. I rely on my mother for good recommendation. 



10) Abolitionist: /ˌæb.əˈlɪʃ.ən.ɪst/ Noun 

A person who supports the abolition of something. 

E.g. Abolitionists fought against the slavery. 



11) Shift: /ʃɪft/ Verb 

To (cause something or someone to) move or change from one position or direction to another, especially slightly. 

E.g. The wind shifts direction. 



12)  Battlefield: /ˈbæt̬.əl.fiːld/ Noun  

A place where a battle is being fought or has been fought in the past. 

E.g. In wars there were many battlefields.



13) Slave labor: /ˌsleɪv ˈleɪ.bər/ Noun 

Very hard work for which people are paid very little. 

E.g. Slave labor was so cruel. 



14) Troops: /trups/ Plural noun 

Soldiers on duty in a large group.

E.g.  The troops were made up of soldiers. 



15) Veteran: /ˈve.t̬ɚ.ən/ Noun 

A person who has had a lot of experience of a particular activity. 

E.g. My grandfather is a veteran in boxing.
